Dativare Fort, also known locally as Dativare Kot or Madi's bastion, is located in the village of Datiware, in the Palghar district of Maharashtra, India.
History
Very little is definitively known about the history of Dativare Fort. However, its structure suggests it was likely built by the Portuguese. The fort probably served as a bastion or a small outpost, possibly constructed in the 16th century, to oversee sea trade routes and provide logistical support to other Portuguese holdings in the region.
Local accounts and some historical references indicate that Dativare played a role during the Vasai campaign in 1739, when the Maratha forces under Chimaji Appa conquered the area from the Portuguese. The Maratha army is mentioned to have landed at Dativare port on their way to Arnala fort, suggesting its strategic importance at the time.
