Dategad, also known as Sundargad, is a small historical hill fort located near Patan in the Satara district of Maharashtra, India.
History:
While local tradition attributes the fort's construction to Shivaji Maharaj, historical documents suggest that the fort was under the possession of the Muhammedans before coming under Maratha rule. The Patankar family, who were Deshmukhs under the Marathas, held charge of the fort. In May 1818, after the establishment of the Satara Raja, Captain Grant of the British East India Company obtained the surrender of Dategad.
