Chaulher Fort, also known as Chaurgad or Chalheri, is a hill fort located approximately 100 kilometers north of Nashik, in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Situated near the town of Satana, it can be visited as a day trip from Nashik. The fort stands at an elevation of 3,700 feet in the Baglan region and is often referred to as the "twin" of Salher Fort due to its similar shape, although Salher is the highest fort in Maharashtra.
History
The history of Chaulher Fort shares similarities with the nearby Salher and Mulher forts. It was once under the rule of King Gawali and later came under the control of the Maratha Empire. In 1818, the British forces captured the fort.
