Chandan Fort, also known as Chandangad, is a historic hill fort located in the Satara district of Maharashtra, India.
History:
According to copper plate inscriptions, Chandan and Vandan forts were constructed by King Bhoj II of the Shilahar Dynasty in the late 12th century (around 1191-1192).
In 1673, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj won these forts from the Adilshahi of Bijapur as part of his campaign in the Satara region. The forts remained under Maratha control until 1689, after which they briefly fell into the hands of the Mughals.
