Akluj Fort, also known as Shivsrushti Killa, is a historically significant fort located in the Solapur district of Maharashtra, India.
History
The history of Akluj Fort dates back to the 13th century when it was reportedly built by Raja Singhan of the Yadav dynasty.
During the Mughal era, Akluj Fort was also known as Asadnagar. A notable historical event associated with the fort occurred in 1689 when the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, after capturing Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, briefly renamed the region S'adnagar. In the 19th century, Bajirao II, the last Peshwa of the Maratha Empire, sought refuge here for a few months after being overthrown by the British in 1802.
